mentor bio: Mladen Alexiev (1980) graduated in theater directing from the National Academy for Theater and Film Arts (NATFA)/Soﬁa in 2006. He has directed various theater productions: »The Maids« by Jean Genet, »Nothing More Beautiful« by Oliver Bukowski, »Heart’s Desire« by Caryl Churchill , »Abduction« based on documentary interviews, »The Turing Machine«, written in collaboration with psychobaiko and »Under Control« by Frederic Sonntag. In 2006, in collaboration with Staminir Panayotov and Kalin Nikolov, he is author of the radio mockumentary »Transferatu«. He was granted two international fellowships and has worked at the programme “Residence and reflection” in the frame of Kunstenfestivaldesarts/Brussels and in Akademie Schloss Solitude/Stuttgart. He has taken part in the Summer residency program of Museum Insel Hombroich. Mladen Alexiev has participated in different independent theater productions in Soﬁa, Belgrade/Serbia, Amsterdam/Netherlands and Berlin/Germany. In the period 2007 - 2011 he has been a member of »Organization 36 monkeys« and part of the team of its long-term project »ProText«. Co-founder of the first in the country Independent Theatre Association (2009) and of the first edition of its festival Independent Theatre Festival (2011). Co-founder of “Silent space”. Mladen Alexiev lives and works in Sofia/ Bulgaria.
